About Reba Rebecca Alice Bracken 1904-1910       Rebecca Alice Bracken was born January 13, 1904.  She was the only child of Marshall and Florence Drinkwater Bracken, who lived at 63rd and Woodland Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.    Florrie, my grandfather's cousin, came to America from Leicester, England, with her parents in 1888 when she was sixteen years old.       It was about Christmas time in 1910, when Reba was almost seven years old, that her brief life came to a sudden and tragic end.  What had been expected to be a routine tonsillectomy brought the ultimate sadness to that season of joy.      Today we have nothing to remember Reba by except this portrait and the many greeting cards from family,  friends and neighbors which she received and treasured during the last four years of her life.   Their messages give no indication that Reba was ailing, so we must conclude that she was simply a very much loved little girl who had a special fondness for post cards.  We offer these treasures here in memory of that beautiful child and her loving parents.       In all, there are nearly 200 cards spanning the period from January, 1907, to Christmas, 1910, just a few days before Reba would have celebrated her seventh birthday.  We hope you will enjoy this glimpse into a time of innocence and charm that is long past.  Gordon A.
